Union sportive of Douala beat Colombe of the Dja and Lobo to shatter a record that has lasted over 11 months 24 days, the longest unbeaten away run in the division.

Union sportive of Douala was at the 6 position after losing a hat-trick of games prior to this one, while Colombe was languishing at the bottom half of the table with only one point separating them from bottom of the pile_PWD of Bamenda.

The big news of the encounter was the leaving out of Samuel Nlend celebrating his birthday, and the debut of Brazilian born Alef Firmino.

Union sportive of Douala kicked off in all Whites, from left to right, with Cyrille Tchayi constantly giving Colombe captain-Bienvenu Lidjoh the splits down the right channel.

Best center-regional league player of last season, junior Bangda was presented a chance just passed the half hour mark but panicked Emile Lako and blasted it over for Colombe’s only big chance in the first half.

Cyrille Tchayi took advantage of a defensive blunder to beautifully bend one with his left foot passed goal keeper Paul Valentine in the 40th minute which marked the end of the first half.

It was all about Union in the second segment and coach Love Kestelot gave the birthday boy (Samuel Nlend) the second 45 minutes of the game, coming in to replace a leggy Abogo Frank. Nlend had an immediate impact on the game with a 51 minute header and an 81 minute tap in, to gift himself the best birthday present he would have wished for.

Huge concerns for Colombe of Dja currently have the lowest points (13) in group A, but for the meantime Union go second in the classification of group A in this “merry go round” season.
