Nigeria Professional Football League Side, Abia Warriors have been fined a sum of ₦5,000,000 which must be paid within ten working days. This was contained in an announcement by the League Management Company on their social media page.
This was a punishment for crowd incursion during a match day 20 league game between Abia Warriors and Enyimba FC at the Umuahia Township Stadium on February 16.
In addition, Abia Warriors must also play a minimum of their next three consecutive home games behind closed doors before a possible review can be carried out.
Out of the ₦5,000,000 fine, Enyimba FC would receive half (₦2,500,000) of it as compensation for injuries and damages to property. Abia Warriors now have 48hrs to either accept the decision or appear before a panel.
Enyimba are currently 7th on the log having amassed 30 points from 18 games and also having three games in hand. Abia Warriors on the other hand are 17th on the log with 24 points from 21 games
