Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday qualified for the First Qualifying Round of the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup after a 2-0 win on penalties against Future Kings with Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr part of the spectators, www.kick442.com reports.
Futuro Kings made an audacious effort through Zoumana Traore from the half way line but his effort went over with nothing to trouble Ospino Egbe in the seventh minute.
Rivers United had the ball in the back of the net twice in the first half.
On both occasions, the efforts were disallowed.
Godwin Aguda who scored for Rivers United in the first leg headed his side’s first goal of the game in the 12th minute.
Kehinde Adedipe doubled Rivers United lead with a scorching effort from inside the box in the 39th minute.
Futuro Kings pulled one goal back courtesy Asu in the 52nd minute.
After full-time, the game went into penalties.
Futuro Kings failed to convert all their spot kicks with Nkama, Nahimana, and Anguel all missing their penalty kicks.
Ihunda and Kazie also missed their penalties for Rivers United.
Bakari and Rivers United captain, Kunle Odunlami converted their spot kicks to give the Nigerian side a 2-0 win on penalties which ensufed that they progressed to the next round.
