The kick off of the littoral regional football league had been officially given with a Douala Derby between caiman football club of Douala and oryx of the same city setting the ball rolling for the new season.
Both teams began the game with the ambitions of harvesting the first 3 points of the season. Caiman of Douala got the best opportunity in the first half to open scores but a poorly executed penalty was saved by Rodrique Fouman to spare his team off early minute blushes.
Both sides had a go at each other in the half but no goals could be scored as oryx of Douala were awarded a spot kick of their own. Much to the dismay of their hundreds of fans who had turned out, the spot kick was fired over the cross post by alexandre Douala.
Caiman football club of Douala mounted the pressure on their opponents with both sides living to regret their misses at the sound of the referee’s final whistle.
The 2 teams shared the spoils going home with a point each and a clean sheet for both keepers.
According to Desire Meka Caïman’s forward, it was an interesting match between both sides even though they missed a penalty, they are looking forward to their next game in the championship as they are tackling each game after the other as far as the season is concerned. The striker also added that, “we hope to do better together on the next game to get the 3 Points”.
The rest of the fixtures of the championship will continue in the days ahead with match day fixtures to come up marking a start to the regional championship in the littoral region.
