The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have returned home from Praia Cape Verde where they team suffered a 3-1 defeat to Cape Verde Island in possibly the worse condition football can be played.
Coach António Conceição Da Silva Oliviera’s 25-man squad touched down the Douala International Airport at 6AM on Saturday via a chartered flight and immediately moved to their base in the Star Land Hotel in Bonapriso.
The team rested all day and had a light training session on Saturday evening as they switch attention towards a recovery performance against Rwanda on Tuesday at the Japoma stadium in Douala.
“My team failed to adapt to the windy nature of Praia and we conceded two fast goals. The lessons have been learnt, our objective is to finish on top of the group, we are still leading and we’ll do all to beat Rwanda in Douala and finish 1st,” António Conceição told the post-match interview.
Cameroon remains top of group despite defeat in match-day five which ended coach Conceição’s almost two years unbeaten run.
The Lions with ten points from five games host second-seeded Rwanda in match-day six on Tuesday knowing a win will secure top spot and qualification on the pitch for their own AFCON tournament to be played in January and February 2021 across six cities in Cameroon.
