Olympique Lyonnais picked up a point at home on Sunday against FC Strasbourg of Cameroon descent defender Nyamsi Gerzino after a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal from Cameroonian forward Karl Toko-Ekambi.
The 28-year old winger leveled for host in the 90th minute after Strasbourg had led and dominated from the 20th minute of the game thanks to a goal from Ibrahim Sissoko.
Toko and Gerzino animated the battle of Cameroonians in the duration of the game with the former finally finding the back of the net to the dissapointment of his brother.
Lyon dropped 2 points which further complicates their quest to finish in European competitions places while Nyamsi’s Strasbourg remains in that race.
The point won in the match-day 31 fixture puts Lyon on the tenth spot on the log with 46 points while Strasbourg are fourth with 52 points.
The men from the Groupama Stadium will host Premier League side West Ham in the quarter final of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday before their next French Ligue 1 fixture away to struggling Girondins of Bordeaux of Cameroon’s Jean Emile Onana.
Peter Bosz’s men are experiencing an unsatisfactory season by their standard but can be proud of Toko who has scored 14 goals and assisted five in 37 games this season.
The seven times French Champions and three times winners of the French cup can only rescue their season by winning the UEFA Europa league.
