Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lebogang Mothiba has been ruled out till the end of the year due to injury.
The Strasbourg forward who has regularly been disturbed by a knee injury, might not kick a football till the turn of the year.
The 24-year-old forward will under go a knee surgery in the days ahead.
Strasbourg’s coach Thierry Laurey announced the sad news on DNA news.
“It is a problem with his knee ligaments, that he has been carrying for a while now, so we have decided to resolve it ones and for all,” Laurey said.
“Lebo will not be operational between four to five months or let’s say till January.”
The Strasbourg boss is not however in a rush for a replacement for the former Lille forward.
“We know that he will come back so we are not desperately looking to replace him. We are hoping that he will come back fully recovered, without any new issues.
“For now we are going to work with the lads that we have, and see in the coming weeks if there is a need for any addition into the team. But we’ll not rush into any decision.”
Lebogang Mothiba joint Strasbourg in 2018 from Lille after a loan spell with Valenciennes.
He is a South African international with 15 caps and four goals to his name.
