Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun have presented a new contract before 30-year-old Cameroonian striker Léandre Gaël Tawamba Kana.
The ex Aigle Royal of Menoua captain joined the Saudi club in 2018 on a two-year-deal which runs out this summer.
Having impressed in his time at the club, scoring 24 goals in 41 appearances.
The club is now willing to exercise the option for the third year inserted in his contract when he arrived from Partizan Belgrade two years ago.
Known for his ‘killer’ instints in front of goal, Tawamba has made himself a great asset for the Buraidah-based club catapulting them to a third-placed finish last term and the Saudi King’s cup triumph in 2019.
The former Union Sportive of Douala man masterminded the club’s 2019 King’s Cup success,scoring in the final to end Al-Taawoun’s close to 10 years wait for a major trophy. He was subsequently voted the club’s player of the season.
Should the one time Cape Town city man sign the new deal, Al-Taawoun will become the first club the transformed defender spends more than two seasons at.
Tawamba has won two caps for the indomitable Lions of Cameroon having featured for the Under-20’s of the Central African nation.
