PWD of Bamenda has been held to a two all tie by FC Bamenda as they team fine-tunes strategies ahead of the League 1 relegation playoffs which begins this Sunday in Limbe.
Under the guidance of goalkeeper trainer, Taku, with head coach Augustine Choupo watching from a distance, the Abakwa boys failed to impress in the first quarter of the match as former Yosa winger, Asongwe McDonald Ndifor fired a free kick to beat goalkeeper Didemus at his near post giving FC Bamenda the lead.
The goal gave FC Bamenda the opportunity to mount more pressure on PWD but failing to double their lead.
At the start of the second half, PWD brought in Nchindo John Bosco, Ade Mienolf, Louiz Mbah, Malachi Nfor, Owen Mbeh Mikel and Tegang Rodrigue and goalkeeper Julius Atengong but FC Bamenda’s agile attackers won a penalty for their side just 10minutes into the second half. The penalty was scored by Buma Roy Sema who send goalkeeper Julius Atengong the wrong way to double FC Bamenda’s lead.
Few minutes later, PWD started dominating possession of the ball and mounted pressure of the defense line of FC Bamenda. The consistent pressure paid off at the 65th minute of play when Owen Mbeh Mikel benefited from a goalkeeper error to reduce scores. At the 75th minute of play, another defensive error presented the ball to Nchindo John Bosco who equalized for PWD with a beautiful header.
At the end of the encounter, some supporters of the Abakwa boys were optimistic about the teams chances of staying in the league one next football season.
The team resumes training tomorrow with two training sessions on program and are expected to travel the day after for Limbe ahead of the playoffs. Their first match is on Sunday against New Stars of Douala.
