Former Cotonsport of Garoua forward Joseph Agbor Yanki put up another match winning performance on Saturday as his side BFC Daugavpis narrowly edged FK Tukums 2000 on the road in Match-Day nine of the Latvia domestic Championship.
Both sides came into the contest targeting maximum points due to their inconsistent start to the season but unfortunately lacked finesse in the opening 45 minutes.
Though the visitors had some good chances in the first half, they had to wait till after the break for the Yanki magic to liberate them.
The ex-UMS of Loum and LIFCA man scored the breakthrough goal for BFC at the 67th minute when he notched home from close range, thus ending his five game run without scoring with his first for the club.
The goal pushed the visitors to organize better at the back in the final 23 minutes.
Though they were chances for BFC to increase tally in the final quarter of the the game they weren’t taken, thus leaving the full-time score as 1-0 in favour of the visitors courtesy a Joseph Yanki Bah finish.
The latest win is BFC’s fourth in nine games and propels them up to the fifth spot in the Latvian higher league, with 15 points to their credit.
BFC host RFS on Thursday in Match-Day ten of the championship hoping Yanki can produce more of his brilliance to help them to another win and a greater push towards the top of the log.
