Didier Lamkel Ze scored one of two late goals as Royal Antwerp narrowly-edged Beerschot in match-day 25 of the Belgian Jupila Pro Championship.
Cameroon duo Martin Hongla and Didier Lamkel Ze started the game for visiting Antwerp.
The attacking efforts from both sides in the first half failed to produce a goal though the teams showed the intent to score.
The sides returned to the pitch for the second segment but poor finishing was their undoing on a couple of occasions.
Just when it looked like the sides were going to settle for a goalless draw, Lamkel Ze scored the opener in the 84th minutes off an assist from Jérémy Gélin.
Pieter Gerkens doubled the lead in the 87th minutes but Beerschot wasn’t going down without a fight.
The host pulled one back in the 89th minute but unfortunately it was too little too late as in the additional minutes for stoppages Antwerp defended properly till the end.
The game ended on a 2-1 score in favor of Antwerp.
Antwerp are second-seeded in the championship with 46 points after 26 games this season.
They are on the route against Club Brugge on Wednesday in a Belgian Cup fixture before visiting Standard Liege of Fai Collins in the weekend.
