As part of its concerted efforts toward improving grassroots Sports in Ogun State, socio-political organization, Ladi Adebutu Development Organization (LADO) has donated the sum of One Million (N1,000,000) for the second edition of SWAN/Security & Safety Cup.
SWAN/Security & Safety Cup is a football competition among security and safety agencies organized by Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
LADO Group made the pledge on Friday when SWAN executive members paid a working visit to the organization’s head office in Abeokuta.
Receiving the sports writers, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LADO group, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu commended SWAN exco for the initiative aimed at fostering unity among security operatives in the state.
Adebutu said sports remain an essential component of human existence and good health.
According to him, government should invest in sports industry to drive the commerce and trade, saying it is a veritable source to improve the internally generated revenue of the state.
“Sports is an essential component of our existence, good health. We may promote sports for the sake of commerce and trade. The days are done when we say children should not play football. Sports is a veritable source of income for families and community.
“It is a great unifying factor. It has language of its own. It is what unites the nation. When we see people that write and promote the essential component of our existence, we need to support them to thrive for success.”
Hon. Adebutu, however, said the N1million donation is to provide four sets of jerseys for the semi-finalists, cash prize award, commemorative shirts, and trophies for the winners.
