The chairman of the Kunde Malong Soccermania youth tournament, Abdel Fadel has told to the media that, the second edition of the youth competition that was initially scheduled to take place this June in Limbe has been postponed, can report.

The announcement was made at the press conference room of the Limbe Centenary Stadium on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

The second edition of the competition that had to include the Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 competitions will only take place in June 2021.

The decision was arrived at after due consultation with the tournament donor Pierre Kunde Malong of FC Mainz in Germany.

“After a careful discussion with stakeholders, and the donor of the tournament, taking into consideration the prevailing conditions created by the outbreak of the Coronairus pandemic,” Mr. Abdel explained.

Many underlying factors can be advanced for the postponement;

Football activities are currently suspended in Cameroon, the borders of the country just like that of many are currently closed. This makes it impossible for Kunde to return home for the event, or any other event. In addition, most clubs in the Southwest Region have sent their players on break since Cameroon League activities were suspended in March this year amongst other reasons.

Despite the challenges, Kunde has opted to support 20 amateur clubs in the Fako Division and two Orphanages on Limbe with kits and food stuffs.

Therefore, nine Southwest Regional League clubs in Buea, four in Tiko and seven in Limbe will recieve bags of Rice, Hydro alcoholic hand sanitizers, nose protecting face masks amongst other items.

The ‘Save the Children Alliance’ Orphanage in the GRA neighborhood in Limbe and another unnamed orphanage at Sokolo-Limbe will all benefit from the Kunde’s humanitarian gesture.

The move from Kunde [one of the best products of the Best Stars Academy in Limbe] has been saluted by stakeholders who attended the press conference.

Distribution of the kits started with Best Stars Academy who were represented by Jamea Likanjo of the club’s Under-15 team.

Taking stock of the proceeds of the soccermania competition so far, founder, coach, and the president Djoufack Saturnin assured the media that, they were satisfied with the progress of the kids detected from the 2019 edition of the the event.

For now, we are very satisfied with the progress of two of the kids. We are doing our best to guide them towards success hoping hard-work take them to the top,” Djoufack told reporters.

Kunde was converted from a central defender to a creative midfielder in his days at Best Stars Academy of Limbe.

In addition to the supplies, the player sent a special message of encouragement to Cameroon-based footballers; “Stay strong, respect the guides issued by the government of Cameroon and the World Health Organization. I am sure we will overcome the pandemic as better people,” the erstwhile GTHS Tiko is quoted to have told the chairperson of the tournament.

Speaking about the reasons behind the actions of the 24-year-old former Athletico Madrid and Granada midfielder, Djoufack [his former coach] said the player opted to give back as he is a child of the region.

The distribution exercise for Southwest Regional Championship clubs in Fako is ongoing at the Best Stars club house, the players detected in the last edition will continue their development while Kunde keeps his commitment with them while the stakeholder take an appointment for the second edition of the Kunde Malong Soccermania youth tournament in June 2021.

Last month Kunde scored his third goal of the season in his 50th Bundesliga appearance for Mainz.
