Pierre Kunde Malong could be on his way back to the German Bundesliga next season, returning to the German topflight after a year in Athens where he won the Greek Super League with Olympiakos.
Reports from multiple German outlets say Bochum officials are currently talking with the players entourage to enhance the return to where he first knew topflight football.
It was at Mainz that Kunde Malong made his mark. Now newly-promoted VFL Bochum want the Cameroonian on board to reinforce their midfield ahead of the 2022-2023 season.
Malong had an average season at Olympiakos, making 21 appearances across all competitions but his value remains €3 million. Though Mainz were able to transfer him to the Piraeus club for half that last year.
Per Bild, Bochum could obtain the man who made 68 appearances for Mainz for €1.5 million or less.
The Bundesliga has missed Kunde’s long range passes and his runs with the ball. The Atletico academy graduate’s return would be a fairy tale plot.
Expectations are high, if Kunde returns to German top-flight football, it will give room for the 26-year-old to continue where he started.
In the international scene, the native of Limbe has scored once in 31 caps for Cameroon and helped his country to a third place finish at AFCON 2021 plus qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup earlier this year.
