Barely a week after brushing aside the Champions of Cameroon,Cotonsport of Garoua by 2-1 to earn a 5-3 aggregate win, The boys of Charles K. Akonnor have again put up a solid performance against a local side on Sunday ahead their first CAF club group stage game in 11 years.

This time around it was their darling striker, Songne Yacouba at the heart of the damage inflicted on their opponents.

A goal in either half from the big Burkinabe boy gave Asante Kotoko confidence boaster 2 nil win over local side Storm Academy at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The team will travel to Sudan this week ahead of their CAF confederation cup with 33 times champions of the country,Al Hilal. But mind you, these Kumasi boys led by reliable captain Amos Frimpong have been fear no big name.

Earlier on in the competition, they eliminated 2017 Champions of Cameroon in Eding Sport FC(Walk Over), 2018 Champions of the same Country in Cotonsport plus a very good Kariobangi Sharks team from Kenya to get their deserved group stage ticket.

The Sudan outing will be followed by two clashes against Zambian sides, Zesco United and Nkana.

Earlier on Saturday Amos Frimpong,Annan Felix and the rest of the lads where handed New kits by the club’s sponsors.
