Nigeria football fans and Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) lovers were thrown into a joyous mood as the announcement came of the release of Enyimba’s player Dayo Ojo and Abia Comet’s player Benjamin Iluyomade from their abductors.

The news broke around eleven pm on Wednesday of the players release by Enyimba International FC on their social media page.

The tweet reads thus: ”GREAT BIG NEWS

Our midfielder man, Dayo Ojo has regained freedom from his kidnappers”

That was the much the tweet gave as no ransom was said to have been paid.

The two players were adopted by kidnappers some days ago on their way to Akure to observe the break of the Nigerian Professional Football League due to the outbreak of the corona virus.

Emmanuel James, one of the players with them had fortunately escaped but Dayo and Benjamin were not lucky.

Report says the players were released on Wednesday night following efforts of the Nigerian police, Enyimba Football Club and the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers and families.

They are said to have reunited with their families.
