Bamboutos FC of Mbouda have agreed a contract extension with 21-year-old shot stopper Patrick Lionel Kibyen.
The former New Stars of Douala custodian had been linked with a move away from the Club earlier in the window but fortunately for fans of the Mangwa Boys, management has convinced the player to stay.
Kick442.com has learnt minutes before the close of the transfer window that the player has signed a new one-year deal with the Club.
Kibyen will be available for coach Laurent Djam when the new season gets underway in November hoping to replicate his brilliance of the 2019-2020 season which was truncated by the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic.
The shot stopper only made his debut in the Cameroon top-flight Championship just under two years ago at New Stars of Douala but has developed into one of the most sought after goalkeepers in the land earning a call to the Olympic and Intermediate Lions of Cameroon team.
His reflexes made him a pivotal part of the New Stars of Douala team that was eliminated in the last qualifying round of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.
In the just-ended season, Kibyen kept goal in 17 of Bamboutos’ 28 league games, of those games, he kept 7 clean sheets.
The 21-year-old keeper is certainly one for the future of the the championship if not Cameroon football.
