Kenyan Rugby player, Dennis Ombachi today on his official twitter handle @ombachi13 made known his displeasure towards the Kenyan Rugby Union saying he was ashamed to say he his country.
In his words ‘‘I am even ashamed to say I represented Kenya in the Olympics here, I will tell you what Russia does to its Olympians just for going there, sisi pesa yetu waliiba na waka kula yote.”
According to him ”I will be back soon, broke as I left having represented Kenya for over 10 years in the world stage, its now sinking in how unappreciated we are back home, and know I never wasted my earnings, its just enough to survive.”
The Rugby star revealed how they were not entitled nothing and they go months with unpaid rent with earnings of 28,000 per month.
The Kenyan Rugby player further revealed he was left in a bad state mentally and physically.”I had a nasty injury late 2017 playing for @OfficialKRU in Dubai and a few months later my salary was more than halved and I was taken from tier 1 to tier 2. The mental torture and trauma I went through was too much at some point. I BROKE MY LEG.”
The player also brought up the issue of the coach and alleged that tribalism was the main reason Kenyan do not have best of coaches.
Ombachi asserted that though his ”still dealing with this and many more trauma inflicted by them, he is happy to say he is good now and in a good space and vowed that ”No one will go through that again as long I still have air in my lungs.”
Dennis Ombachi competed for Kenya at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Ombachi will forever be remembered after he made a very late run from deep to sneak Kenya through securing the slot to qualify for the Olympics. It was history in the making and very emotional as other team members celebrated the win.
He also was a member of the squad that competed at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia.
