A day after the Federation of Kenya Football (FKF) declared the Kenyan league ended and Gor Mahia champions, the Kenyan Premier League has insisted that the league has not ended.
In a letter signed by Jack Oguda, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenyan Premier League and addressed to the federation secretary, the league board posits that they are the only body with the authority to cancel the league and not the Federation.
”FKF’s decision to end the league, without consulting the Kenyan Premier League, contravenes various clauses in the FKF-KPL Agreement and the SDT Ruling on the FKF-KPL Agreement.”
The KFL also threw a jab at the FA describing it a as ”unauthorised” as the federation’s National working committee tenure has ended.
”KPL would like clarification on which organ within the FKF’s met, deliberates regarding the status of the league. We seek to know this considering that the SDT Ruling of March 17, 2020, stated that the teem of the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) had ended.”
”KPL is bound to that SDT Ruling and implementing any purported decisions emanating from unauthorized persons will amount to contempt of court. As a law- abiding institution, KPL would like to avoid doing so.” The letter read.
FKF’s also says that the ”decision to end the league on the plain pretext that CAF asked for information regarding strategies put in place to ensure conclusion of the KPL 2019-2020 season reeks of malice.”
The league board maintains that the league can still be completed by the end of July.
KFL exerts that the league can be completed following all guides in conformity with the Governing Council’s decision.
