Football Federation of Kenya (FFK) got a temporary relieve to what should have been a FIFA sanction on Friday after the federation failed to meet up with the deadline given to pay former coach, Adel Amrouche.
The former coach had won his case after he sued Kenya FA in 2019 at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for unlawful dismissal.
Consequently, FIFA had set aside Friday, 24th April, 2020 to sanction FFK if they failed to pay the Algerian tactician his salary which is a little over $1m (Ksh109m).
The world governing body of football has now given Kenya FA a three weeks grace to pay Amrouche else the case will be moved to the disciplinary for possible sanctions.
Likely sanctions could a fine for the federation or the Harembee Stars could be banned from the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
Kenya are in the same qualification group as Uganda, Rwanda and Mali.
