South African star Kelvin Anderson has been knocked out of the Great Ocean Road Open, an ATP 250 event in Melbourne.
The 34-year-old lost his third round match to Karen Khachanov of Russia 6-3 7-6(5) in the last 16 of the tournament.
Kevin Anderson had won his first two encounter. The first against Feliciano Lopez winning in straight sets (6-4, 7-5) and second match against Germany’s Cedrik-Marcel Stebe on Wednesday (6-4, 6-2) to progress to the last 16 of the ATP 250 event.
Anderson will now shift his focus to the Austrian open where he faces a tough opener against 9th seed, Matteo Berrettini from Italy. The tournament starts on Monday, 8th February.
