25-year-old Senegalese international forward Keita Balde Diao came through the ranks of FC Barcelona, the forward dreams of a return to the Catalan club.
“It’s one of my wishes. I had the chance to play for the Academy and it’s one of the Championships that I have not had a chance to play in,” the Monaco forward told AS.
“If Pique becomes the President then I’ll definitely go back,” Balde added
Keita Balde joint Barca’s La Masia in 2004 and had a-two-year loan spell with Cornellà before joining Italian Serie A outfit Lazio in 2012.
Despite the bitter rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona and his deep Barcelona roots, the native of Arbùcies is not totally opposed to the idea of joining Real some day.
“It depends on the circumstances. I will not say no for now. That will be telling a lie. I will think about it and maybe I might say no later. Maybe.”
The childhood Inter Milan fan grew up idolizing Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o who is joint fifth on the list of all times Spanish LaLiga foreign top scorers, with 162 goals alongside French forward Karim Benzema.
Balde is tied to Monaco till June 2022. He joint Monaco 2017 for €30 million from Lazio.
He has found the back of the net 8 times in 26 games across all competitions this season, including four goals in the French Ligue 1.
