Olympique Lyonnais finally have their man. To cover up for their injured Dutch forward, Memphis Depay, the French club has secured the service of Cameroon forward Karl Brilliant Toko-Ekambi from Villarreal.

Lyon are hoping that Toko-Ekambi will make them forget the injured Depay while he remains on the sidelines.

Lyon officially announced the player’s arrival on Monday in a statement.

Toko-Ekambi joins Lyon on a loan deal worth €4 million till the end of the season, with the option to buy him at the end of season for €11.5 million.

The transaction includes a bonus of €4 million and Lyon will pay 15% of any transfer fee they will get from the player if they eventually move him on.

Toko-Ekambi who had previously played for Sochaux and Angers returns to France one-and-a-half year after leaving. He scored 25 goals in 62 games across all competitions for the Yellow Submarines after joining them in 2018.

The 27-year-old Cameroon forward who has scored 6 goals in 18 league appearances for Villarreal this season has been attributed the number 21 shirt and will be presented to the media tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

The presentation will take place in the presence of Lyon’s President Jean-Michel Aulas, Sporting Director Juninho and Florian Maurice who is in charge of recruitment with the French club.
