Qatar-based Senegalese defender Serigne Modou Kara Mbodji has rubbished media speculations that his relationship with current national team coach Aliou Cisse is unhealthy.
Two years after his last invitation to the Teranga Lions den, local media in his native Senegal has been speculation a ‘bad blood’ exist between the between the current Al-Sailiya SC defender and ex international defender.
In an exclusive granted to Senegalese online portal Gelsenfoot.com this week, Kara has the debunked the claims.
“There is no problem between Cisse and I,as a matter of fact our relationship goes beyond football. Many out there may think it is otherwise but I assure you, we are fine. As a matter of fact we spoke not too long ago” :The ex Nantes defender Concluded.
The 30-year-old partnered to good effect with Napoli’s Khalidou Koulibaly at the 2017 AFCON though Senegal was knocked out by eventual winners Cameroon in the quarter final.
He was surprisely overlooked for the 2019 event, in fact he has not been included in any Senegal squad since the end of the 2018 world cup in Russia with his last international appearance being in a 2-1 against Croatia pre 2018 world cup friendly.
Despite having a good relationship with the current coach, the Ndiass native must be stirring departure from international football especially given he currently plays in somewhat a less competitive Qatari championship.
