Kano Pillars on Sunday defeated Remo Stars 1-3 at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 30 game.
The Sai Masu Gida (Kano Pillars) raced to a 0-2 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Mark Daniel and Auwalu Ali Malam.
Ibrahim Yusuf pulled a goal back for Remo Stars in the 40th minute.
Auwalu Ali Malam scored his second goal of the game for Kano Pillars in the 48th minute to hand the visitors a 1-3 win.
The defeat was Remo Stars’ second home loss of the season after going down 0-1 to Akwa United behind closed doors on February 16, 2022.
The loss was also Remo Stars’ biggest home defeat at home this season.
Remo Stars maintained its fourth position with 46 points, two points behind third-placed Enugu Rangers.
Enugu Rangers suffered a 0-4 defeat to second-placed Plateau United with Muhammad Zulkifilu scoring two goals while Izuchukwu Chimezie and Anthony Sunday scored the other two goals.
League leaders, Rivers United came back from 1-2 down to record a 2-3 away win over Dakkada FC in Uyo.
Malachi Ohawuma scored two goals for Rivers United as Chijioke Akuneto converted the other goal.
Ezekiel Edidiong scored a brace for Dakkada FC.
Rivers United top the league table with 64 points from 30 games, seven points ahead of Plateau United.
Elsewhere, MFM FC, Enyimba International FC, Heartland FC, Kwara United, Sunshine Stars, and Wikki Tourist all picked away wins while the game between Niger Tornadoes and Lobi Stars was abandoned at the time of this report.
