Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the appointment of a French tactician, Mr. Lionel Emmanuel Soccoia as the new technical adviser that will lead the Aiteo cup holders, Kano Pillars FC to the forthcoming 2020/2021 CAF confederation cup.
This was confirmed on the Club website, www.kano-pillars.com on Tuesday.
According to the chairman of the pride of the pyramid city, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Yahaya Jambul, the Governor has given the approval to ensure that the Sai Masu Gida fulfills all the requirements sets up by the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
The continent’s apex football body has given directives to all participating clubs for the 2020/2021 CAF club football competitions to hire coaches that have CAF ‘A’ Licensing or its equivalent.
According to the Media Officer of the club, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, the new coach is already in the country and will be unveiled on Wednesday, 21st October 2020.
“We concluded all the necessary contractual agreements with him and he will sign a one-year contract for us as soon as he arrived in Kano on Wednesday, Alhaji Surajo said.
The chairman pointed out that the appointment of the new coach will not temper with club technical crew members but they might be some little adjustment as regards their responsibilities in the club.
Mr. Lionel Emmanuel has previously worked in some African countries like Cameroon, South Africa, Zambia among others.
Kano Pillars will represent Nigeria at the CAF Confederation Cup next season by being the Aiteo Cup Champions in 2019 after the 2020 edition couldn’t hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
