Despite reports claiming that Liverpool are favourites to sign Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, French Champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to fight with all they got to land the former Metz defender this summer.
PSG are looking for a replacement for 35-year-old Brazilian centre-back and current club captain, Thiago Silva who is set to leave the club at the end of the season, haven seen out his contract.
With the French Ligue 1 season already ended with PSG crowned as champions, they are now focusing on the next campaign.
French daily L’Equipe reports that PSG are looking for replacements in four compartments in their team.
28-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly has been identified as a perfect replacement for Thiago Silva.
The Napoli defender is also a target for Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and England’s potential new multi billionaires, Newcastle United.
Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis has set a huge price of €100million for anyone who want to get the former Genk defender.
The price is currently judged to be too much for a 28-year-old defender but PSG seem to have a joker in their Sporting Director, Leonardo.
The former PSG and AC Milan midfielder successfully negotiated the moves of Edison Cavani and Ezekiel Lavezzi from Napoli to PSG. The former Brazil international definitely knows how to deal with Napoli’s enigmatic President.
Napoli though are reported to be determined to hold on to their rock solid defender and will not offer any discounts on their asking price.
Koulibaly has made 173 league appearances for Napoli, scoring 10 goals since joining them in 2014 from Genk.
He has also won 42 caps for the Teranga Lions of Senegal who finished as runners-up in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
