Newcastle United look to become the next force to reckon with in English football. The Magpies have made contact with Napoli for a possible move for their highly rated Senegalese defender, Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to reports from French media, Uruguayan forward Edison Cavani and French winger Nabil Fekir could also be on their way to Saint James Park.
Newcastle are close to finalizing a change of ownership, as the club’s current owner Mike Ashley is reported to have accepted £300million offer by a Saudi consortium to take over the club.
If the deal is finalized, Newcastle will become the richest top flight club and this will mark the beginning of a revolution at Tyneside, similar to those witnessed at Chelsea and Manchester City.
With big money comes big players and a big Manager. One of such big players already identified is Napoli’s Koulibaly who has been a longtime target for Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis had announced that he will only part ways with the former Metz and Genk defender if his asking price of €100million is met. But it is believed that the player could make a move if anyone pays about £80million for him.
According to reports from from Foot Mercato, Newcastle are ready to fight with the best after the new owners move in and Koulibaly is one of the players they have set their sights on.
