Former Liverpool and Napoli defender Andrea Dossena has advised the Merseyside outfit to go for the services of Napoli’s Senegalese international defender Kalidou Koulibaly, this summer.
The 38-year-old former Italian international left-back made 18 league appearances for Liverpool and 83 for Napoli.
Speaking to Radio Musica TV, Dossena advised Napoli to open the door for Koulibaly to leave the club if they failed to nail a Champions League spot for next season.
“To get nine points back from Atalanta is a mammoth challenge, so should Napoli not clinch a Champions League berth, they should sell some player,” Dossena said.
“The two most valued are Fabian Ruiz and Koulibaly, with Koulibaly being the most likely to leave.
“Physical and speedy, he is one of the best central defenders in the world and can have his say in the Premier League too.
“Klopp [Jurgen] is missing just one piece to complete a stratospheric squad and the Koulibaly – Van Dijk pairing could become a big barrier.”
Koulibaly has been hugely impressive for Napoli since joining them from Genk in 2014, as the 28-year-old has made 173 league appearances with 10 goals to his name for the Italian side.
He is on the wishlists of a number of top European clubs, including PSG and Manchester United.
