- Kaiba Djawal scored the only goal of the game inside 70 minutes on Tuesday
Cotonsport have now nine of their last ten games in the MTN Elite One
- No Wassou, Youssoufa, Souaibou but same Coton
- They remain 3points behind leaders Eding Sport in the league table
- Gabriel Hamann’s side comfortably occupy one of two title play-offs spot
Cotonsport of Garoua extended their unbeaten run to ten games following a narrow 1-0 against UMS of Loum thanks to a second half great second half performance.
Kaiba Djawal was the player to strike just 25 after half time, capitalizing on some shoddy UMS defending to earn the host all three points and boost their playoffs hopes.
Coach Gabriel Hamann’s side was made to sweat for the win as Kaiba had to wait till the 70th minute to score his fifth goal of the season and UMS failed from the spot with a 93rd minute penalty miss in a game they finished with ten following the sending off of Camille Noah Omboudo.
Tombi Alemi went close early on, bursting into the box before seeing his shot palmed away by Camille Noah into Ateba Lionel’s path, but the forward in a rare start again saw his poke saved by the goalkeeper.
Coton continued the dominance while UMS sucked the pressure but were breaking constantly from the counter. Things became more complicated for UMS when their goalkeeper Camille Noah was sent off for stopping a goal scoring opportunity with his hand outside the box just before the break.
UMS finished the first segment with ten players but tested Anye Derick on Coton’s goal twice, and remained a man short till the end.
Kaiba finally break the UMS defense 20 minutes from time abd they held the lead till the end.
Coton survived a late scare when forward Kamilou Daouda in a strange position handled the ball at the expense of a penalty. Unfortunately for Bertin Nguemaleu who scored a brilliant free-kick in this reversed fixture his kick from the spot this time around went miles over the cross-bar.
The penalty miss was the last action of the game as the referee closed the contest after that action thus extending Coton’s unbeaten run to ten games. A run in which they have won nine and played a draw. Anye has kept eight clean sheets through that run and conceded two goals.
Coton have accumulated 30, three off Eding going into their next game against YAFOOT who have won two of their last three games.
