Former Las Palmas head coach,Manulo Marquez has told the local media in Thailand where he now works that Barcelona’s new loan signing,Kevin Prince Boateng will not be comfortable as a bench warmer at Barcelona.
Marquez previously managed Boateng in the La Liga when the pair were at Las Palmas.
Boateng spent the 2017 season under Marquez at at La Palmas and the gaffer says;
“He is not a natural forward. He can play in many positions. But for me he’s better as a playmaker. He has played on the left wing with (Quique) Setien or pivot at Milan. And in Las Palmas, he finished playing at 9.
“He is a guy with a very strong character and it will not be easy for him to spend many days on the bench.”
Boateng scored 10 goals in 29 appearances in his last stop in the La Liga before went abroad to serve other clubs before confirming a surprise return to Spanish Football on Monday as he joined La Liga Leaders, Barcelona on loan from Serie A side, Sassuolo at 31.
Boateng was presented at the Camp Nou on Tuesday and he becomes the first Ghanian to join Barcelona.
There is veritable competition for places in the current Barcelona team,so he will need to work more to earn his place in the team and avoid spending days on the bench.
