Just In:CAF Set New Kick off and draw dates for the 2019 AFCON
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

CAF_Online is reporting that the Confederation of African Football has moved the kick off date of the 2019 AFCON tournament.

This comes after CAF was informed by the organizing Federation(Egypt) that a tournament that begins on June 14 as initially planned, will concide with the Ramadan and affect the input of Footballers who are Moslims.

As a result,CAF has decided to change the kick off date of the Tournament from 14th June to 21st June while the closing date of the Tournament moves from 13th July to 19th July.

CAF online also says the draw of the first ever 24 Nations tournament will take place on the 12th of April this year just weeks after the last qualifiers in the Month of March.

Egypt got the rights the rights to host this competition after Cameroon failed to satisfy CAF with her preparation.

This change in kick off date is a blessing in disguise to keen followers of Women’s Football as they will have time to enjoy a good part of the Women’s World Cup before linking up with their Men’s national teams later in Egypt.
