Barely hours after Cotonsport’s first training session in Kumasi, the club’s technical and administrative staff have held a meeting at their Crystal Hotel base in Kumasi wherein the Club’s CEO has promised an additional bonus of 600000 FCFA per player should the team win and qualify to the group Stage of the CAF Confederation cup on Sunday against Asante Kotoko.

The extra motivation bonus for the players was presented in the meeting alongside a 1 million FCFA cash gift from the club’s supporters Union. The financial motivation comes after the recently appointed minister of Sports in Cameroon, Narcisse Moulle Kombi handed a cash support of 30 Million FCFA each to New Stars and Cotonsport this Wednesday to prepare their return leg games.

Asante Kotoko won by 3 goals to 2 in Cameroon last Sunday making it mandatory for Cotonsport to win by 2 goals this Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium,if they must eliminate Asante Kotoko.Kotoko officials have also made an undisclosed financial promise to the players in case of a qualification for the group stage of the CAF club competition for the first time since 2008.

Asante Kotoko have been solid at the Baba Yara Stadium in the last decade, but in 2015 they pull a somewhat favourable zero all draw away from home, only to be eliminated by Algerian visitors,MC El Eulma after a 2-1 defeat at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Cotonsport is still seeking their first win against a Ghanaian club in a CAF organized competition.

Sunday’s game is obviously a do or die one for both clubs as they battle to enter the “money zone”.
