Barley 24 hours after government announced it will allow 200 fans only to watch AFCON 2021 qualifiers encounter in Maputo pitting the Mambas of Mozambique against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, there is a new twist.
This Pan-African Sports News Agency understands the government of Mozambique has has obtained permission from CAF and will allow a minimum number of 5000 fans into the Stadium on Monday.
According to our sources the government obtained the go-ahead on Saturday in the evening, making it possible for Mambas and Lions faithfuls to watch the game in strict respect of the Covid-19 prevention guides.
The Estadio Nacional de Zempoto will host the Indomitable Lions versus Os Mambas clash barely four days after the the latter accepted a 4-1 defeat in Douala-Cameroon.
The Mambas return home in the early hours of Friday and held a light training session on Friday, November 13 at the Maputo Estadio National de Zempoto ahead of the 5pm kick off on Monday.
The boys of Luiz Filipe da Silva Goncalves used the evening to review errors of Thursday in Douala and work on basic skills the team needs ahead of Monday’s game.
Mozambique suffered a 4-1 defeat against Cameroon on Thursday in their match-day three confrontation at the Douala Reunification stadium.
The host will be looking to hurt the five times African champions in Maptuto to keep their chances of qualifying for the final tournament in Cameroon in 2022 alive while Cameroon is keen on completing the double away from home.
Mozambique are currently second seeded to Cameroon with three points separating them from leaders Cameroon who have recorded seven points in three outings.
Cameroon are host of the competition and have an automatic qualification ticket while Mozambique is hoping to finish at least second in group H to get the second AFCON ticket on offer in the group.
Cameroon arrived Mozambique on Saturday night and will carryout pre-match formalities from this Sunday ahead of the game.
