Strong and lanky Nigerian forward, Paul Onachu continued his impressive season’s form by scoring a goal for Genk in their 3-2 away win against Royal Antwerp as the Belgian championship play-off starts on Friday.
Theo Bongonda gave Genk the lead 20 minutes into the game but Marchand equalised for Antwerp in the 57th minute. Four minutes later Koji Miyoshi sent Antwerp ahead with a fine finish but Onachu draws Genk level in the 73rd minute before a brilliant finish by Theo Bongonda, his second of the night 2 minutes from time gave Genk the win.
Genk moved to second on 31 points with the win, seven adrift leaders Club Brugge who will host Anderlecht in their opening game of the four-team Championship play-off.
All the four teams competing in the play-off will face each other twice and the top team will qualifier automatically for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The team that finishes second will be in the Champions League qualifiers.
Paul Onachu now on 30 league goals and 32 in all competitions this season for Genk having played 37 games across all competitions.
