20-year-old Cameroonian Midfielder, Jean Emile Junior Onana on the books of French Ligue Un outfit LOSC Lille has revealed he panicked when he was told he will make his debut for the club but his mates helped him out.
The ex Academy Nkufo prodigy switched to Lille on January 31st and showed glimpse of his brilliance with the reserve team before been handed the starting berth in a 2-1 defeat against Olympique Marseille on February 16 this year.
Speaking to ‘Record’ recently Onana admitted being embarrassed when coach Christophe Galtier picked him.
“During our preparations for the Marseille game the coach told me,I will play. I was anxious and speechless. I asked myself many questions within. It was an unforgettable day. Renato Sanches and Tiago Djalo really helped me,both of them helped recover my calm. I must confess Djalo helped with his sense of humor while Sanches helped me out with some elderly talks not forgetting Jose Fonte.
The former Under-17 Lions of Cameroon midfielder recently picked for the senior team has unfortunately not built on the good 80 minutes against Marseille as the French Ligue 1 season ended prematurely following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic.
Onana is considered as replica of the great Jean II Makoun who seduced neutrals into loving Lille with his performances in the midfield in his hail days.
