24 years old Cameroonian midfielder on the books of south African Division two side Stellenbosch FC have “iced the already beautiful cake” by scoring his first goal of the season in what has been an already wonderful debut campaign in the South African second Division.

Awono was on target for leaders Stellenbosch as they put 5 pass University of Pretoria at home on Sunday.

A 55th minutes strike from the former YOSA of Bamenda and Renaissance of Ngoumou man meant the efficient Cameroonian holding midfielder finally got his first goal in South African football. Other goals from Du Preez,Mosiathaga x2 and top scorer Rayners I. made it completed the rout.

Stellenbosch FC is 5 points clear off second-placed Royal Eagles after 25 games this season and it will take a miracle to get them off the contest for promotion into the PSL.

“It gives me joy that we won than that I got a goal, the objective has not changed we want to target the next game with full focus,I scored today and we won, that builds confidence. We will continue to work hard for the next game” Awono told kick442.com.

Stellenbosch travel to challenge Jomo Cosmos on Sunday as they continue to chance the title and PSL automatic Promotion.
