Astres FC on 45 points mathematically is through to Cameroon’s first-tier for the first time of asking after having been relegated to the second-tier in precarious conditions, and Julien Kamta Fokou has played his role.
Kamta Fokou and his Astres FC teammates have leaped to Cameroon’s premier division with three more match days to spare.
The former Avion Academy forward who started the league with a slow pace due to injuries, scored a near perfect hat-trick in his side’s 5 – 0 mauling against Dynamo, on match day 23.
The hat-trick increased the forward’s tally to five this season, which is applaudable giving how late he began the season.
“I am personally very happy with my performance. It’s all because of my teammates equally. It was a match we had at heart because in the away leg they pecked us back,” Kamta told kick442.com.
According to the head of the Technical Transitional Committee Aboubakar Alim Konate, Astres FC would have made the Elite One anyways, but Kamta and co had other ideas: “the media said we were in the Elite One already but we wanted to just make sure on the field of play.”
The remainder of their games are just mere formalities as the Brazilians of Bepanda are on their way to where they belong in the nation’s football.
