Some 508 judokas have all converged at the Mfandena Gymnasium this Saturday Afternoon to part-take in the 2022 National Youth Judo competition named Kimono D’or. These different athletes have been selected from the East, West, Centre and Littoral regions.
The One day Yaounde Judo showpiece, has seen the participation of 52 Judo officials, 314 boys and 133 girls with their age ranging from 4 to 14. The event is a traditional competition that has as objective to initiate the young Judokas in competiting for a common goal.
Maitre Alain Kingue President of the Cameroon Judo Federation had the following to day; “Kimono D’or because it is the official attire of the Judokas and so the competition is aimed at giving importance to the discipline and to show to the parents what their young athletes are capable of doing”.

“The tournament is a promising one , every year we have more participants as time passes.This year we surprisingly had some far away teams from Batie and Abong Bang, this shows the competition is of great importance and has taken another dimension,”He added.
The federation is focused on the training of Judo officials and athletes as well as create proximity training facilities for the athletes.
“We intend to train some Judo administrators, financial officials and coaches in the creation of riches in terms of recruitment and quality of performances,” Alain Kingue concluded.
The Cameroonian Judokas will part-take in the May Senior African Judo Championship in Algeria, the Ouagadougou and Magascar Judo Open in June 2022.And the highly competitive World Judo Championship in Azerbaijan with the top teams expected to showcase their savoir-faire. And will close her yearly calendar with the Yaounde Judo Open 2022 .
