Former Nigerian international and newly appointed assistant coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo has cleared the air on the rumours going round that he is not in good terms with the coach of the Super Eagles, Genort Rohr.
The former Eagles captain spoke with the Sports Zone crew on Lagos Talks radio, a show monitored by kick442.com on Thursday.
While asked if the news of a discord between him and the German tactician is anything to go by, the skillful defender giggled and said ”between us there is no problem”.
The former Everton and Norwich defender revealed he has not met with the Eagles coach since his appointment but they have spoken on phone on a number of occasions and everything is good.
”The few times that we’ve spoken everything is good. He is a good person. One that I can relate to. So between us there is no problem.”
”We haven’t met. We have spoken couple of times. I think he has also said it. So we are looking forward to having a good working relationship.” He said.
Yobo stated that Rohr and himself are looking forward to having a good working relationship when football activities resume.
”I can’t say I know him too much. I have seen him from far. He can’t say he knows me too much he’s seen me from far but we’ve been speaking on phone which we have great relationship talking.
”So hopefully when we come back together, we can have more understanding. But between Rohr and I, certainly there is no problem. It is just media speculations.” He affirmed.
Joseph Yobo played in six African Cup of Nations winning the 2013 edition and playing in three world cups for the Super Eagles.
He was appointed as assistant coach of the Nigeria national team early this year.
