Since his departure from Turkish Super Lig leaders Trabzonspor, Nigerian former Super Eagles of Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel is in the hunt for a new club.
Mikel left Trabzonspor on mutual consent after protesting on how the league was handling the Coronavirus pandemic with Turkish Super Lig games still maintained amidst the outbreak.
The former Chelsea midfielder revealed on ESPN that he was desired by Brazilian top flight side Botafogo.
However, the former Chelsea midfielder did not say if he was moving to Brazil in the days ahead or not. He rather said he has told the Brazilian club to give him some time to make a decision on the potential move.
“Yes there have been and interest and negotiations. But I can’t tell for now,” the 32-year-old former Chelsea midfielder said.
“I am still thinking. I am not yet sure.”
Mikel spent 10 years with Chelsea, making 374 appearances across all competitions, winning two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League title amongst the 11 trophies he won with the west London outfit.
Mikel signed for Trabzonspor on a free transfer after two years with English Championship side Middlesbrough.
He had also had a spell in China with Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA before moving to Borough.
