Portuguese Super Lig side FC Maritimo have recorded a narrow 1-0 win against FC nine-man Belenenses in this Saturday’s bizarre Portuguese Super Lig encounter.
The visitors gave Maritimo of Joel Tagueu and Franck Bambock a run for their money in a desperately close game.
Bombock started the game while Joel settled for a place on the Maritimo bench.
Both sides failed to create a real chance in the opening 45 minutes of the game.
Little changed after the interval as both sides struggled to click in the final third, forcing the host to introduce Joel Tagueu with 22 minutes of the game left and Belenenses down to ten following a 61st minute red card to S Kristyuk.
The entry of the Cameroonian forward improved movement up front for Maritimo but the most important aspect of the game (a goal) looked like escaping them.
11 minutes from full-time, midfielder Bombock was withdrawn as his side targeted a more offensive approach by bringing on forward Marcelo Antônio de Oliveira.
Maritimo finally had tge reward for their persistency in the 93rd minute when Cameroon forward Diederrick Joel Tagueu scored off an assist from Marcelo Hermes.
Phete was also sent off for Belenenses in the 98th minutes leaving his side with just nine players till full-time.
The latest goal is the second in nine appearances this season for the 27-year-old native of Nkongsamba.
Maritimo are currently ranked 13th in the 18-clubs championship after match-day 10 and face Sangueiros on Wednesday in the fourth round of the 2020-2021 Portuguese cup.
