After the heart breaking news of an ailing heart which has ruled him out from taking part in the 32nd edition of the African Cup of Nations in Egypt, 26 year old Cameroon striker Diederrick Joel Tagueu Tadjo has received the support of Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education Pr Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.
Tagueu was diagnosed of having some irregularities with his heart condition which could be fatal if he was let to play in the tournament especially with the very hot weather in Egypt, according to advise from Indomitable Lions’ medical team led by Pr William Ngatchou.
The 26 year old native of Nkongsamba who plays his club football for Maritimo in the Portuguese top flight scored 7 league goals last season.
He had previously played for Londrina, Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Santos, Botafogo, and Avai in Brazil.
Tagueu was hoping to impress in Egypt though he has just a goal in four caps for Cameroon.
He has also received the support of Cameroon’s technical staff led by Coach Clarence Seedorf as well as his teammates in Monday’s pre-match conference.
It’s not the first a Cameroon international has had heart issues. Former FC Nantes forward Christian Bekamenga had heart worries but that is now a far cry as he has gone on to play in France, China and now with Elazigspor in the Turkish second tier.
It will be nice to see the 25 year old return to action and at his best again after all he is just 25 years old with much of his best still ahead of him.
