Maritimo’s Cameroonian forward Joel Tagueu scored one of two goals on Sunday to help his Portuguese club register another domestic championship victory in the 2021-2022 Portuguese Liga Nos Championship.
Maritimo picked up a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Pacos Ferreira in Match-day 12 thanks to an important contribution from the 27-year old native of Nkongsamba.
The game of few chances and no goal in the first segments suddenly came to life in the second-half producing two goals to the delight of the home fans.
Joel Tagueu set the ball rolling for Maritimo’s second league victory this season when he break the deadlock barely four minutes into the second segment.
The Cameroonian ran the channel on the night chasing all loss courses and by the 73rd minute, he had reached his limits and was replaced by Ali Alipour.
Italian midfielder Stefano Beltrame crowned the success with a second goal in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.
The scoreline remained unchanged till full-time, thus adding adding another three points to Maritimo’s points tally this term.
Maritimo are ranked 15th in the 18 clubs domestic Championship with 10 points from 12 games.
Maritimo will trek to Boavista of Paul Georges Ntep in Match-Day 13.
Tagueu has scored once in four league games since returning from a spell on the treatment table.
