Liverpool’s Cameroonian sweeper Joel Job Matip has taken to social media to announce he won’t appear at Anfield for the rest of the current season, kick442.com can report.
The 28-year-old former Schalke defender limped off injured over a week ago during the Merseyside derby against Everton.
Unfortunately, for the defender, he won’t join his mates again at the Club’s spiritual home[Anfield] or away this term.
“I will not be back on the field this season,” Matip told the Club’s website.
What seems to be a toe injury at sight is the reason the defender will miss the rest of his Club’s six games this season.
Liverpool face Manchester City in a ‘change of power’ fixture at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening.
The defender who was very involved in the 2019 UEFA Champions League success is hoping to be return to action next term.
“I hope to return, and help the team soon,” the Bochum native further revealed.
The erstwhile Schalke 04 Center back played nine games for the Reds this campaign, scoring once.
Matip has had a difficult season with the English- Champions elect having suffered from a spate of injuries.
Matip,28, won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool last season.
In all he can boast of four trophies in four years at the Club.

Matip has struggled with injuries this term. It is the third time Matip is having to miss games because of injury this season.
It is the 15th career injury for Matip who only returned from another 84 days lay off in January.
The 2014 world lone goal scorer for Cameroon has not featured for Cameroon in the past six years.
