Cameroon Elite Two outfit Union Sportive of Douala are in talks to sign experienced Cameroonian midfielder Joel Emmanuel Kofana ahead of the 2021-2022 season.
The 29-year-old box-to-box midfielder is negotiating a one-year-deal to join second tier side from Elite One outfit Canon of Yaounde.
The switch ends Kofana’s long stay around clubs in the center Region after stops at APEJES of Mfou,Fauve Azur Elite and Canon Yaounde.
Should the deal happen, Kofana will reunite with coach Herman Oumarou Sokba with whom he was at APEJES for four years until the start of the 2019-2020 season.
The Intermediate Lions of Cameroon midfielder could join Union as a free agent after seeing out his contract at Canon Yaounde during which he featured for Cameroon at the the African Nations Championship earlier this year.
Union Sportive of Douala are fresh from a maiden relegation to the second tier Championship for the first time in over six decades and are hoping to get sufficient quality to secure a return to Elite One.
