Nigeria’s Joe Aribo scored the opening goal of Glasgow Rangers’ 3-4 away win over Antwerp in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
Aribo in the 38th minutes received a brilliant pass from Alfredo Morelos and sends a long-range shot past the helpless Antwerp goalkeeper to give Rangers the lead.
Felipe Avenatti out-jump Rangers defence in the centre of the box and connect with a free-kick from Lior Refaelov. He sends the ball inside the left post with his towering header to make it 1-1.
The referee awarded a penalty to Antwerp after Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review. Lior Refaelov converted the penalty to put the host ahead for the first time in the additional minutes of the first half.
Rangers also equalised from the penalty spot in which Alireza Beiranvand gets a hand on from Borna Barisic’s effort, but the goalkeeper can’t stop it from flying into the right post.
Martin Hongla restored Antwerp’s one-goal lead in the 66th minute. He received a precise pass and quickly shoot. His effort goes into the left side of the post.
The game became 3-3 in the 83rd minute when Alfredo Morelos provides Ryan Kent with a nice pass inside the box. It allows him to finish with a precise effort inside the right post.
After Abdoulaye Seck was sent off for Antwerp, Rangers scored the winning goal from the penalty spot as Borna Barisic leaves the goalkeeper helpless with his precise penalty shot Inside the right post.
Joe Aribo played for the duration of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 first-leg tie.
Leon Balogun on the other hand replaced James Tavernier in the 26th minute.
