Newly promoted French Ligue 1 outfit, FC Lorient are close to completing the signing of veteran Malagasy international defender Jérémy Morel.
According to reports from French daily L’Equipe, the defender will sign at the beginning of this week with the team coached by Christophe Pélissier.
The former Lyon and Marseille defender is currently out of contract with Rennes.
He is poised to sign a one year contract with with the option for another 12 months if Lorient succeed to stay in the French top flight.
It will be a return to Lorient for Morel who played for the Merlus between 2002 and 2011 before joining Marseille.
He played 214 league games for Lorient, scoring 12 goals.
He has won 8 caps for Madagascar, scoring one goal since making his international debut on November 18, 2018 in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.
