23-year-old Cameroonian defender Jeannot Sama Esua has expressed readiness to get back on the pitch as his Canadian Premier League Club FC Edmonton commence preparations for the resumption of the new season.
FC Edmonton players resumed training on Friday, June 12 after spending over two months away from the pitch since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Canadian Premier League was scheduled to resume in April this year but was later postponed indefinitely when the pandemic bugged down football activities globally in early February.
Speaking in a recent interview with Kick442.com, Sama emphasized on having an even greater desire to sparkle in the upcoming season.
“Well it has not been easy, but I was doing well to follow the Club’s training program at home and doing more extra work. I hope to have a better and stronger impact in the league than last season, and possibly make my Club to be counted among successful Clubs in the upcoming season. I am ready to go,” the former Bamboutos FC of Mbouda defender revealed.
A One-time part of the Under-17 and Under-23 National selections of Cameroon defender, Sama remains hopeful to get into Cameroon’s senior national team selection through his performances in the upcoming season.
“I am hoping the performance reaches a point that will attract more attention from the national team coaches or why not get the opportunity to play for the national team of Cameroon,” Sama further explained.
The Brasserie football Academy graduate joined the Club in February 2019 and impressed in his debut campaign picking up the Club’s 2019 player of the season Award.
The players continue individual training this week but hope to resume full team training sessions next week.
