Cameroon international forward Jean-Pierre Nsamé was on fire for Young Boys of Berne who needed all top three points against FC Zurich to stay top of the Swiss top flight at least tentatively.
In an opening match-day 24 fixture of the Swiss Super League, Young Boys were saved by the in-form Cameroon forward as they went down at the 25th minute when Tosin Aiyegun opened the scoring for the visitors.
Nsamé replied seven minutes later with his 19th goal of the season.
Benjamin Kololli put the visitors ahead again at the 38th minute and they held on to the advantage till the end of the first half.
With FC St Gallen breathing down their necks with a better goal advantage, a win was inevitable for Gerardo Seoane’s men.
They turned to their 27-year-old dependable Cameroon goal machine who took them off the hook with two second half goals.
Nsamé got their equalizer at the 81st minute and grabbed the much needed winner at the 85th to take his season’s tally to 21.
It’s the forward’s most prolific season yet for Young Boys since joining them in the 2017-2018 season from Servette.
Nsamé had only managed more league goals in his career, in the 2016-2017 season with Servette in which he scored 23 league goals in 31 appearances.
His compatriot Moumi Ngamaleu also took part in their win against FC Zurich as he made way at the 66th minute of the game.
Young Boys remain top of the league table with 48 points, three points and a game more than second placed FC St Gallen.
